The Woodlands Kitchen Renewal gave a well-built kitchen an entirely new architectural face without discarding the cabinet boxes that were worth keeping. Existing solid face frames were reworked for new Shaker doors and drawer fronts, while a custom 98-inch appliance surround unified the refrigeration units and wine cooler. A glossy oil-based finish provided the durable, polished appearance requested by the homeowner.

01 — The Brief

It Began With a Description.

The homeowner was unhappy with the existing cabinet doors but did not need to discard the entire kitchen. She described a cleaner Shaker style, a smooth glossy finish, and a substantial built-in surround that would organize the large refrigeration appliances and wine cooler as one cohesive feature.

02 — Initial Concept

A New Face for the Existing Kitchen.

The initial concept focused on adapting the existing face frames for closed Shaker fronts and establishing a balanced appliance wall around the 98-inch-wide opening. The illustration communicated cabinet language and relationships; final proportions and details were refined in the field during fabrication.

03 — Developed Design

Bringing the New Kitchen Together.

The developed illustration brought the material direction into focus: light-gray Shaker cabinetry, a dark island, stainless-steel appliances, bright stone surfaces, and a warm wood accent beside the range. The final glossy oil-based finish gave the renewed cabinetry the protection and polished character the client wanted.
